Under the R2G program, THP-U conducted three days Vision Commitment and Action workshops in Kitumba and Kamuganguzi Sub-counties in Kabale district. The workshops aimed at advancing better nutrition and WASH practices through facilitating an attitude of self-reliance among the 60 community members that participated.
The two workshops held concurrently were facilitated by Violah Nayebare THP-U Advocacy and Communications Officer, Sunday Mawa THP-U Nutrition Specialist and James Tinkasimire THP-U APO together with Staff from the CBOs that support R2G implementation in Kabale district who are; Create Impact Initiative led by Fosca Niwagaba and FITS Uganda by Provia Nsasibwe.
As a result, participants drew their ideal villages, set a clear vision, made commitments and created both individual and group actions that included having backyard vegetable gardens and collaborating with school administration teams to ensure that all children have a nutritious meal while at school.
The trained members will support in training of other community members on how they can lead their own change to achieve improved nutrition outcomes but also act as models and champions of nutrition in their respective communities.
